Daylight savings means The Court makes less $$$, apparently

Last night the Perth Town Hall hosted a debate on daylight savings in Western Australia. Television cameras were there, and so was Court owner Bree Maddox.
I don’t know if this debate was supposed to include an accurate cross section of the community, but from what I’ve read it was mostly ranty business owners. From today’s West Australian (page 7):
Former Centrefold model turned businesswoman Bree Maddox said daylight saving was bad for businesses, particularly hospitality, because they lost an hour of trade. “People do not go out to the clubs until it is dark,” she said. “I exercise in the mornings and it is not safe for me to walk around in the dark.”
When a young audience member said all young people would move to the Eastern States if daylight saving was not introduced, Ms Maddox said: “I suggest you get a job and get a life”.
An intelligent, civil, and thought provoking comment from Bree, sure to win over even the most keen daylight savings supporters. Reminds me of this one time I posted an article about The Court management’s attitudes toward its patrons.
All bitching aside, things don’t pick up at The Court until 10pm whether or not it’s daylight savings. By 10pm the sun has gone down in summer anyway. I’m also confused because The Court is trying to pick up the alfresco evening pub dining crowd - wouldn’t daylight savings help you get more customers in to eat?… who would then stay on to get drunk?
Finally, the commment about having to walk in the morning I don’t buy for a second. Bree I know you go to Next Generation gym in Kings Park, you live across the road from it!

I encourage everyone who wants to add hours to their summer social lives, have more time to do things outdoors and bring Perth alongside the rest of the world to put in the effort to vote, and vote YES on daylight savings on Saturday 16th May.
